Philip Meitner ( German: Philipp Meitner ; August 24, 1839 , Vienna - December 9, 1910 , Vienna ) - Austrian chess player. Lisa Meitner's father, grandfather of Otto Frisch .

He graduated from the Vienna Polytechnic Institute , then from the beginning of the 1870s. practiced as a lawyer. From his youth he played chess, including with his fellow student at the institute Wilhelm Steinitz . Throughout his life he took part in international tournaments held in Vienna, for more than 40 years he was in the Vienna Chess Club. In 1878, he won the match against Adolf Schwartz (6½-3½).
Best known for the game he played in 1872 with Karl Humpe , which went down in the history of chess under the title “ Immortal Draw ” [1] .
