Olkovichi ( Belorussian. Alkovichy ) is a village in the Vileika district of the Minsk region of Belarus , part of the Ilyansky Village Council . The population of 28 people (2009) [1] .

Geography
The village is located near the border with the Logoisk region , 12 km northeast of the center of the village council, the agricultural town of Ilya and 33 km east of the district center, the city of Vileyka . 10 km north-west of Olkovichi lies the Vileika reservoir , 3 km to the north flows the Kobylyanka River, a tributary of Viliya . The village is connected by local roads with the surrounding villages of Yuntsevichi , Ovsyaniki , Stayki , Matikovtsi . The nearest railway station in Vileyka.
History
The village has been known since the 17th century, in 1699 a wooden Catholic chapel was built here with the image of the Virgin Mary. In 1722, Bishop Alexander Garain, who owned Olkovichi, built at his own expense a wooden church of the Nativity of the Virgin. In the second half of the 18th century, the parish in Olkovichi received independent status [2] .
In 1793, after the second division of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Olkovichi, as well as the entire Vileycha region, were part of the Russian Empire, the Vileika uyezd was formed, first part of the Minsk province , and from 1843 the Vilnius province [3] .
In the 19th century, the existing Catholic church was rebuilt into a neoclassical wooden church with a six - column portico and a two-tier tower. In 1897-1905, a neo-Gothic stone temple was consecrated next to it, consecrated in honor of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin [4] . The old wooden temple has not been preserved.
After the signing of the Riga Peace Treaty (1921), the Olkovici became part of interwar Poland , and the border passed near the village. Since 1939, Olkovichi as part of the BSSR . From 1940 to 2013 - the center of the Olkovichsky Village Council . During the Great Patriotic War, the village was under German occupation from June 1941 to July 1944.
In 1989, the Temple of the Visitation was restored and now serves as an active Catholic church [5] . His parishioners are not only residents of small Olkovich, but also neighboring villages.
In 2013, the Olkovichi village council was abolished, Olkovichi and all other settlements of the former village council became part of the Ilyansky village council .
