Eventration ( lat. Eventratio - е [х] - “separation, removal” + venter - “abdomen” ) is an acute defect in the peritoneum and the muscular-aponeurotic layer of the anterior abdominal wall, the formation of which creates conditions for depressurization of the abdominal cavity and exit viscera beyond.
Events are congenital, traumatic and postoperative. Usually such newborns are not viable, and die soon after birth. In this case, childbirth takes place without features.
The following reasons may contribute to the occurrence of eventation:
- wound inflammation;
- suppuration of the suture;
- diet failure;
- diabetes;
- atrophy of the muscles of the abdominal wall;
- improperly wound wound;
- plugging the abdominal cavity through the wound;
- increased physical activity immediately after surgery.
These circumstances lead to a weakening of the operated place and do not allow the connective tissue to recover properly. Moreover, if we talk about the first two signs, then they are not as scary as the rest, since pressure on the affected area from the inside is a greater threat than from the outside.
