Content

History

Date of establishment not established. First marked on the French map of 1812 as a Pimenov farm [2] . In the 19th century, the farm was also known as the Romanov farm [3] . According to the List of populated areas of the Earth of the Don Army in 1859, the Pimonov (Romanov) farm belonged to the yurt of the village of Potemkinskaya , there were 19 yards in the farm, 149 people lived in total [4] .

As of 1936, as part of the Kotelnikovsky district of the Stalingrad (Volgograd) region (center of the village council) [5] .

Physico-geographical characteristics

The farm is located in the steppe area within the western slope of the Ergeninsky Upland, belonging to the East European Plain, within the Scythian tectonic plate on the right bank of the Aksay Kurmoyarsky River ), just below the mouth of the Karachev’s beam [6] , at an altitude of 64 meters above sea level [ 7] . The terrain is hilly-plain, complicated by beams and ravines [6] . Complex soils: chestnut solonetzic and solonchak soils and solonetzic (automorphic) soils are common [8] .

By road, the distance to the regional center of Volgograd (to the city center) is 190 km, to the regional center of Kotelnikovo - 33 km (to the city center) [9] . There is an access to the farm from the regional highway Volgograd - Kotelnikovo - Salsk .

Climate

The climate is continental , arid, with hot summers and relatively cold and low snowy winters (according to the Köppen – Dfa climate classification ). The average annual air temperature is + 8.9 ° C. The average temperature of the coldest January is -6.0 ° С, the hottest month of July +24.2 ° С. The estimated long-term rainfall is 372 mm. During the year, the amount of precipitation is distributed relatively evenly: the least amount of precipitation falls in February-March and October (24 mm each), the largest amount - in June (40 mm) and December (38 mm) [7] .
