Principal members of the proposal

The main members of a sentence are subject and predicate . They form the grammatical basis of the sentence. The main members are independent of the other words in the sentence, and the form of the remaining words in the sentence may depend on the subject or predicate.

Content

Subject

The subject reports about whom or what the sentence says, it answers the questions “who?”, “What?” And is most often expressed by a noun or a pronoun in the form of a nominative case. Sometimes the subject is expressed by a combination of words. It is underlined by one line.

Examples

  • Did the rain (what?) Begin?
  • Arman (who?) Is playing.

Predictable

The predicate answers the questions “what does it do?” What did you do? what will do what did you do? ”etc. The predicate is usually expressed by various forms of the verb. It is underlined by two lines.

Examples

  • The wind howls (what does?).
  • I looked out (what did?) Out the window.
