Biography
In 1938 he graduated from the Latvian Conservatory (double bass class), and in 1950 (conducting class). Pupil of Peteris Barrison and Leonids Wigners . In 1950-1952, he interned with Boris Khaikin in Leningrad . Since 1940, he worked as a double bass player in the Latvian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Since 1947 - conductor of the Latvian Opera and Ballet Theater, since 1954 - chief conductor. In 1963-1966 he was the chief conductor of the Latvian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra. In 1952-1961 he led the conducting class of the Latvian Conservatory.
He was married to actress Dina Kuple .
