Tyrone Spong ( born Tyrone Clinton Spong ; born September 3, 1985 , Paramaribo , Suriname ) is a Dutch professional boxer , professional kickboxer and mixed-style fighter of Surinamese origin, performing in the first heavy and heavy weight categories . The holder of the regional titles of the champion of Latin America according to the WBC Latino (2017 - present ) and WBO Latino (2018 - present ) in heavyweight. It is considered one of the greatest kickboxers in the history of this sport. [1] [2]

Former boxing champion Glory 9 (2013), and world champion in Thai boxing WFCA (2007-2008) in the first heavyweight (up to 95 kg).
Once mother asked Tyrone if he would stop fighting if he hit the jackpot of 500 million euros. He replied that no, but would become an even better fighter to get rid of internal doubts. Spong also added that he was fighting not for money, but for about to get into history and glorify his native Suriname. [one]
Since childhood, Tyroneβs idol was Ramon Deckers , who inspired the future champion. [2]

Sports career
Kickboxing
Tyrone Spong held his first fight in professional kickboxing on September 22, 2001 , defeating the Dutch fighter Werner Stool. In the same year, at the age of 18, he became world and European champion. Spong began his career with performances in the category up to 72 kg and rose to the heavyweight, becoming the champion in all categories through which he passed. [1] Until 2010, he lived in Florida, where his sparring partners were Alistair Overeem and Rashad Evans. [3]
In the professional ring, he spent more than 80 fights according to the rules of kickboxing and Thai boxing and is a legend of K-1 [4] .
MMA
He began performing in MMA on November 3, 2012 , beating KO American fighter Travis Bartlett.
Boxing
Tyrone Spong made the transition to professional boxing after breaking his leg on April 12, 2014 , falling into the block of the Turkish kickboxer Gokhan Saki [4] .
On March 6, 2015, he made his debut in professional boxing, when in Berlin , in the 1st round, he knocked out the Hungarian boxer Gabor Farkas.
March 5, 2016 Spong fought in the city of Grozny in the category of up to 90.9 kg and ahead of schedule defeated David Gogishvili. [five]
On October 7, 2017, in his 10th fight in a professional ring, he defeated experienced Mexican Sergio Ramirez (15-4, 8 KO) in the 1st round by knockout and won the vacant WBC Latino heavyweight title.
