Service

Omsk in the Bering Sea, September 5, 1994

The chief of the submarine since April 13, 1993 is the city of Omsk [1] .

At the end of August 1994, Omsk, under the command of Captain 1st Rank A. S. Astapov, left the Western Face , circled the northern tip of Novaya Zemlya, went under the ice and entered the high latitudes of the Arctic Ocean under the gutter of St. Anna. Then, in difficult hydrometeorological and ice conditions and in areas hazardous to navigation, in the shallow waters of the Chukchi Sea, she made the transition and became part of the 10th division of the 2nd fleet of submarines based in Kamchatka. For 15 days, the submarine went under the ice for about 4,000 miles. The senior on board was Rear Admiral I.N. Kozlov . In 1996, both officers were awarded the title of Hero of Russia for the preparation and implementation of the ice transition from the North to Kamchatka.

In 2013, Omsk, under the command of 1st-rank captain Roman Velichenko, became the winner of the competition between multi-purpose nuclear-powered submarines in search and destruction of enemy submarines with practical firing of torpedo weapons [2] .

From 2015 to 2019 was under repair and modernization at the Zvezda DVZ . From May to June, it was tested, in June 2019 it was transferred to the Pacific Fleet after modernization [3] .

On June 29, 2019, the press service of the Eastern Military District reported that the K-186 Omsk nuclear submarine was handed over to the Pacific Fleet after the completion of planned repairs and technical modernization [4] [5] . The ceremony of the transfer of the ship took place at the Far Eastern factory "Star" in the city of Big Stone. Prior to this, during the tests, the nuclear submarine successfully completed a number of test tasks in the waters of the Sea of Japan, including deep-sea diving. [6] All mechanisms and systems passed the test in “combat” conditions [7] During the modernization, the launch systems of the Onyx and Caliber cruise missiles were installed on Omsk [8] . A “recharge” of the atomic reactor was also performed [7] . For the excellent modernization and repair of the Omsk nuclear submarine, the Chief of Staff of the Pacific Fleet, First Deputy Fleet Commander, Vice Admiral Sergey Rekish awarded the most distinguished employees of the Zvezda plant with the 110 Years to the Russian Submarine Fleet medals [9] . On August 9 he returned to the permanent base in Kamchatka.
