Turner Crater ( lat. Turner ) is a small impact crater in the equatorial region of the visible side of the moon . The name was given in honor of the English astronomer and seismologist Herbert Turner (1861–1930) and approved by the International Astronomical Union in 1935.

Crater Description
The nearest neighbors of the Turner crater are the Gambar crater in the northwest; Semmering crater in the east-northeast; Lalande crater in the southeast and Fra Mauro crater in the southwest. To the west-northwest of the crater is the Sea of Islands ; in the north-west of the Carpathian Mountains ; in the north is the Bay of Heat ; in the east, Central Bay ; in the south Sea of Clouds ; in the South-West Sea Poznannoe [2] . The selenographic coordinates of the center of the crater are , diameter 11.2 km [3] , depth 2630 m [4] .
The crater has a circular cup shape and is practically not destroyed. A shaft with a clearly defined sharp edge and a smooth inner slope with a high albedo . The height of the shaft above the surrounding terrain reaches 410 m [5] , the volume of the crater is approximately 50 km ³ [5] . In the west, the remains of a crater of equal diameter are adjacent to Turner Crater.
Crater Turner is included in the list of craters with dark radial stripes on the inner slope of the Association of Moon and Planetary Astronomy (ALPO) [6] and refers to the number of craters in which temperature anomalies were recorded during eclipses . This is explained by the fact that such craters are of small age and the rocks did not have time to become covered with regolith , which has a thermoisolating effect.
