Content
Biography
He studied at the Berlin Academy of Arts and at the School of Engravers at the Academy. From 1863 he worked in London , and from 1866 - in Berlin, at the Prussian State Mint . Since 1867 - the second medalist, and since 1887 - the main medalist of the mint.
He created stamps for obverse coins with a portrait of Wilhelm I - thalers and coins of 2, 5 and 10 marks , as well as for all coins with portraits of Frederick III and Wilhelm II . He created stamps for coins of German colonies ( German East Africa , German New Guinea ), German states ( Waldeck- Pyrmont, Hamburg , Lubeck , Oldenburg , Saxe-Altenburg ) and foreign countries ( Egypt , Morocco , Mexico ).
He created a large number of medals, in particular, medals in honor of the composer Richard Wagner , German scientist Alexander Humboldt , Field Marshal von Moltke .
He signed his works “EW”.
