Baron Trefgarn

Baron Trefgarn of Cleddo in Pembrokeshire is a hereditary title in the United Kingdom Peer system. It was created on January 21, 1947 for a lawyer, journalist and politician George Garro-Jones (1894-1960). He previously represented South Hackney (1924–1929) and North Aberdeen (1935–1945) in the House of Commons. In 1954, he adopted the new surname “Trefgarn”. As of 2010, the title holder was his son, David Garro Trefgarn, 2nd Baron Trefgarn (born 1941 ), who succeeded his father in 1960 . He held small positions in the conservative administration of Margaret Thatcher . Now Lord Trefgarn was one of the ninety elected hereditary peers who remained in the House of Lords after the 1999 Act of the House of Lords .
