Qualification

Final teams of the 2002 UEFA European Under-19 Championship

The qualifying tournament for the final of the 2002 European Football Championship consisted of two rounds. In the preliminary round, which was held from August to November 2001, 50 national teams, divided into 14 groups (six groups of three teams and eight groups of four teams), challenged the exit to the second round in a circular system of mini-tournaments held by one from participating countries. The group winners reached the second round, where they were divided into pairs and played with each other in two matches, at home and away, from March to May 2002. The winners of the second round reached the final tournament. Norway automatically made it to the finals as a tournament host. [one]
