Biography

Born in the village of Chesminka in the Moscow province (today - the Leninsky district of the Moscow region) in a working class family.

He graduated from high school (1939), the 5th Moscow Special Artillery School (1942) and the Odessa Artillery School (1943, in the Sverdlovsk Region).

Member of World War II since May 1943 (Western Front).

After demobilization (1947) he entered the Moscow Machine Tool Institute.

  • In 1952-1954 he worked at the Red Proletarian machine tool plant as a process engineer, foreman, senior foreman, shift supervisor.
  • From 1954 to 1963, engineer, junior research fellow, head of department at the Experimental Research Institute of Metal Cutting Machines (ENIMS).

In 1958 he defended his thesis on "Experimental studies of kinematic errors in the chains of machines for processing spiral bevel gears."

From 1963 to 1964, instructor of the engineering department of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Then he returned to ENIMS as the head of the department of machine components and mechanisms. In 1966, he was approved in the academic rank of a senior research fellow in the specialty "Design of typical units and mechanisms of metal-cutting machines."

Doctor of Technical Sciences (1973, topic of the dissertation "Aerostatistical supports of metal-cutting machines and devices"). Professor (1978).

In 1975-1987, the director of VNII instrument. At the same time, from 1976 to 1985, he worked concurrently at MAMI as a professor at the Department of Metal Cutting, Machine Tools and Tools.

In 1987-2005, a professor at MAMI at the Department of Automated Machine Tools and Tools.

The author of 35 inventions.

  • “Cutting tools equipped with superhard and ceramic materials, and their application. Handbook ”(1987).

Rewards

Winner of the USSR State Prize in 1985 for the development of highly progressive metal cutting tools with wear-resistant coatings. Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation .

He was awarded two orders of World War II, the Order of the Red Star and 15 medals, including “For the Defense of Moscow”, “For Courage”, “For the Victory over Germany”, and the badge “Inventor of the USSR”.
