Membership
The first, champion, division consists of 24 teams. 16 best teams of the first division and two best teams of the second division are allowed to compete in this division according to the results of the 2014 World Team Championship in Tokyo . The remaining places were filled on the basis of the ITTF team world rating [1] .
87 men's teams and 78 women's teams from 94 countries took part in the championship [2] .
