Baron Kirkwood of Bersden in Dumbartonshire is a hereditary title in the United Kingdom Peer system. It was created December 22, 1951 for the Scottish engineer David Kirkwood (1872-1955). He was a member of the Scottish Unionist Party , the Independent Labor Party , and later the Labor Party . David Kirkwood was a member of the House of Commons from Dumbarton Burgh (1922–1950) and East Dumbartonshire (1950–1951). As of 2010, the title holder was his grandson, David Harvey Kirkwood, 3rd Baron Kirkwood (born 1931 ), who succeeded his father in 1971 .
