Canadian Men's Curling Championship ( Tim Hortons Brier , colloquially “Brier”, pronounced “Brarier” or “Brarier”) is the annual Canadian men's curling team competition.
It has been held since 1927 , usually in March . The organizer is the Curling Association of Canada ( born en: Curling Canada , Canada Curling Association ).
The participating teams act as national teams of their provinces , having passed the preliminary selection at the provincial championship level.
The winner of the championship gets the right to represent Canada as the men's national team of Canada ( Eng. Team Canada ) at the next World Cup , as well as (since 2015 ) to perform under this name at the next Canadian championship.
The first part of the name (“Tim Hortons”) refers to the current main sponsor of the tournament, Tim Hortons Inc. - A fast food chain famous for its coffee drinks. The second part of the name (“Brier”) originally indicated a tobacco brand sold by the main sponsor of the first tournaments - the Macdonald Tobacco Company (currently part of Japan Tobacco ).

Competition Formula
At the first stage, 12 teams play among themselves in a circular system in one circle. The four best teams go to the second stage, the playoffs , where they play according to the Page system : the two best teams, following the results of the group round, hold a match for a direct hit in the final (playoff-1). The 3rd and 4th teams play for reaching the semifinals (playoffs-2). In the semifinals, there is a loser in the first match and a winner in the second. In the finals, gold awards are disputed by the winners of the playoffs and semifinals. Bronze medals have been played ( since 2011 ) by losers in the semifinals and in the playoffs-2.

Team Medal
Since before the 2011 championship there were no matches in the playoffs for bronze medals (between the loser of the semi-final and the loser in the quarterfinals of the 3rd and 4th teams according to the results of the round-robin round), in the table for these championships the bronze owners indicate the teams that took 3rd place in a circular round.
