Biography

Maxim Limonov was born on May 29, 1989 in the city of Prokopyevsk, Kemerovo region . At the age of four, he began to practice karate , trained at one of the local sports clubs under the guidance of his own father Andrei Mikhailovich Limonov. I tried myself for a short time in Thai boxing , and at the age of fifteen I began to seriously engage in classical boxing [1] . At the amateur level, he became a candidate for master of sports [2] .

He made his professional debut in September 2007 in Yekaterinburg, signing a contract with well-known manager and promoter German Titov - he defeated his first rival Alexey Nevzorov by technical knockout in the second round. He adhered to an extremely aggressive style, inflicting a lot of power strikes, often entered into “cutting” with rivals, an uncompromising exchange of strikes with a minimum of defensive actions, for which he received the nickname “Pit bull”. So, six of his first seven fights ended ahead of schedule by knockouts. Opponents were frankly weak boxers.

In 2009, having ten victories on the track record without a single defeat, Limonov first appeared in the United States, where he defeated a local American boxer Skylar Thompson by technical knockout. A year later, he again boxed in America, this time by a separate decision of the judges, he prevailed over the American Julius Fogl , the champion of the USA among amateur. By the beginning of 2011, he had already won 15 victories and thanks to a series of successful appearances, he got a chance to challenge the vacant Russian middleweight title. Another challenger was Karen Avetisyan - the fight between them lasted all ten rounds, and as a result, the judges unanimously gave the victory to Limonov, despite the knockdown in the last round.

Despite a successful career with 16 consecutive wins and a won Russian title, Limonov soon decided to end his career as a professional boxer - this decision was largely influenced by the death of his father, who for many years remained his main source of motivation. It was noted that earlier Limonov repeatedly had problems with the law. So, back in 2007 he was found guilty under article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (gang robbery ) and sentenced to probation. In 2012, he was held as the defendant in a criminal case under Article 112 ( intentional infliction of moderate severity of harm to health ), but the parties managed to come to a reconciliation. In the summer of 2013, he received a fine of 80 thousand rubles for an attack on a police officer (Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Recently, he was officially unemployed . For all that, the investigation failed to establish its connection with the criminal circles of the city [3] [4] [5] .

He was killed on June 17, 2014 in the courtyard of his house in Prokopyevsk - getting out of a car, was wounded in the head with a firearm and died before the ambulance arrived. Next to him in the car was his girlfriend, she remained unharmed, but the killer’s face could not see. A criminal case was instituted under the first part of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, various versions of the incident were examined, including the possibility of contract killings .
