Clint Howard ( born Clint Howard ) is an American actor. The younger brother of director Ron Howard . Best known for his roles in the films Mamenkin son and Apollo 13 , as well as his role in the series Gentle Ben when he was a child.

Biography
Early life
Clint Howard was born on April 20, 1959 in Burbank , California . He was the youngest son in the family of actors Rans Howard [4] [5] and Gene Spigle Howard [6] [7] .
Career
Television
Howard began his career when he was two years old, appearing in five episodes of the Andy Griffith Show , and then starring with his older brother Ron. He played Leon, a child in a cowboy costume who wandered around Mayberry and silently offered people a piece of his sandwich, to which they replied: “No, thanks, Leon” [8] . Other notable roles were in the series San Francisco Streets in the episode entitled Hyde Street House ; and also on The Virginian as Tommy, the happy owner of puppies in an episode called Melanie .
In 1963, he appeared in an ABC medical drama titled Breaking Point as the four-year-old Mikey in the episode " Wildebeest Now Nearly Extinct . " He also played little Billy Taft, the nephew of Dr. Richard Kimble, in the first episode of the Fugitive series, entitled “The House Is a Hunter” ( 1964 ).
His first notable role was the role in the series Tender Ben (1967–69). He also starred in the episode of Rod Serling’s Night Gallery series as Herbie, a ten-year-old boy who predicts the near future; Howard also played Billy in a television version of John Steinbeck's series called The Red Pony , which also featured Henry Fonda and Maureen O'Hara .
Howard has appeared in various episodes of the Star Trek series:
- In 1966, he appeared in the role of an alien child named Beams in “The Corbomb Maneuver, ” an episode of the first season of Star Trek: The Original Series . This was well established in the history of Star Trek, and he repeated the role of the character in 2006 at William Shatner's Comedy Central Roast [9] .

- As a tribute to Howard’s prominent place in Star Trek culture, he played a role in the TV series Gran directed by JJ Abrams ; in the episode "The Road Is Not Taken" , he plays a man who considers himself the son of Sarek. He discussed a fictional plot of Romulans from the future, very similar to the plot of the film by Abrams, dedicated to Star Trek itself (in the next episode, Leonard Nimoy turned out to be the mysterious character that he was discussing).

Movies
In the movie, Howard made his film debut in The Courtship of Eddie's Father ( 1963 ), where he played a guest at a children's party at his birthday party when Shirley Jones put on an Indian headdress. Howard also voiced Roo in the Disney animated films Winnie the Pooh and Honey Tree (1966) and Winnie the Pooh and Care Day (1968), which were later included in the feature film The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977). He also voiced Hati Jr. in the Jungle Book (1967).
Howard appeared in seventeen films shot by his brother Ron Howard , including in the debut film - the short film Old Paint, then Clint was ten years old. He also starred in Ron's first full-length film The Big Auto Theft . Other roles in the films of Howard Sr.: John Dexter in Cocoon ( 1985 ), Paul in the Enthusiast (both in films and in TV shows), pathologist Ricco in the Whirlwind of Fire ( 1991 ), Lou in Parents , Flynn in Far Away ( 1992 ) Flight Manager Seymour Libergoth in Apollo 13 ( 1995 ), Ken in Ed from TV ( 1999 ) and Ctobris in the film The Grinch - The Kidnapper of Christmas ( 2000 )
He also played Sheriff Purdy in the movie The Last Raid ( 2003 ), Lloyd Davis in Frost vs. Nixon ( 2008 ), Herbert Trimpy in the Dilemma, and Paul Lucas in the episodes Spider and We Interrupt This Program from the HBO mini-series From Earth to the Moon , which was produced by Clint's brother.
Howard played Eaglevar at the School of Rock and Roll , Asher at Crazy , Paco at Mama's Little Son , Arthur Lynn in the Heart of America directed by Uwe Boll , cellmate Slinka in Tango and Cash , DJ CJZZ in What You Do , Johnson Ritter in the movie series about Austin Powers , another flight controller in the movie Museum Night 2 , Nipples in Nikki, Devil Jr. (2000), Gregory Tudor in the low-budget film Ice Cream Man ( 1995 ), Rughead in Spirit of Vengeance ( 1986 ), Stanley Coopersmith in Evilspeak ( 1981 ), Keith Caterion in the movie Cat , Dr. Coplenson in Halloween 2007 ; also appeared in the romantic comedies Play the Game and Speed Dating .
He also played Sanders in the movie Alabama Moon and Dr. Owen in the movie Nobody Survives , which was written and directed by Jason Christopher and released on February 26, 2013 . Appeared in the movie Han Solo. Star Wars: Stories directed by Ron Howard [12] .
Music
In 1981, Howard founded The Kempsters, a new wave rock and roll band that mainly consisted of his friends who were his neighbors on Kemp Street. In 1982, their drummer Mike "Spooner" Bauer, was replaced by Tony Rodriguez. The group regularly played in the famous Esther Wong restaurant. The group retired in 1983 . Although The Kempsters never released more than one album, Howard began distributing a four-track CD called No Brains At All. They were recorded by a group in different studios. Also on the disc were seven tracks recorded live on October 17, 1982 at Madame Wong's (the old name of the restaurant).
Personal life
Howard married his wife Melanie on October 29, 1995 . In 2017, it was announced that Howard filed for divorce. [13]
Howard is a Republican (unlike his brother Ron, a Democrat ) [14] . On January 29, 2016, three days before the Iowa faction congress , he supported the United States Senator of Texas, Ted Cruise, for the Republican presidential nomination. [15]
Clint Howard is an avid World of Warcraft player who plays under the nickname "Extas" in the "Thrust" guild, in the realm of "Dark Iron". Also, Howard is an energetic golfer who played 150 rounds a year, until a hip replacement forced him to quit the game [14] .

In 1998, he was awarded the MTV Movie Award for his lifelong contribution to cinema. In 2014, he was awarded at the International Film Festival in Milan for the best cast in the film Sand Castles: Family History and Tragedy , along with the rest of the actors; and nominated for Best Supporting Actor. In 2015, the HorrorHound Film Festival was nominated for "Best Actor" for the movie The Amusement Park Massacre [17] . In 2017, the Shockfest Film Festival was honored with the Puppets film award.
