Ashur-nadin-shumi, the eldest son of Sinahriba , was seated on the throne of Babylon by the father instead of the unjustified Bel-ibni .
In October 694 BC. er The Elam king Hallutush-Inshushinak II , in response to the Assyrian invasion of Elam , conquered the Babylonian city of Sippar , thereby cutting off the link with the rear of the Assyrians. The Babylonian army was defeated, and their king, Ashur-nadin-shumi, was captured and sent to Elam, where he soon died or was killed.
