Biography
Born July 2, 1967 in Biston (ceremonial county of Nottinghamshire ). His father, David Stowell, an artist and decorator, provided income by private orders, his mother, Margaret Stowell, worked at the Plessey factory. Tina graduated from Chilwell School and Broxtowe College, where she qualified as a secretary (in 2006 Brockstau College was merged with People's College into the new Castle College [2] , and that, in turn, in 2011 was merged with South College, and since 2013 this institution is called Central College Nottingham [3] ). At the age of 18, she began working in the specialty at the Department of Defense , then at the British Embassy in the USA . From 1991 to 1996, she was a press officer at the Prime Minister John Major . In 1996, she received a degree in the Order of the British Empire [4] [5] .
She was the deputy head of the secretariat of William Haig as the leader of the opposition (1997-2001) [6] .
In 2001, Tina Stowell joined the BBC Broadcasting Corporation, in 2003 led the Head of communications [7] service on and collaborated with Board Chairmen and and in the , established in 2007, with Chairman . In 2009, she headed the corporate department (in accordance with the appointment made in September 2008) [8] .
In January 2011, she was awarded the title of Baroness of Biston and became a member of the House of Lords . In the same year, she supported the unsuccessful attempt of the ruling coalition to carry out reform of the upper house of parliament, which included the provision on the introduction of direct elections of some of its members. Subsequently, Tina Stowell emphasized that the failure of the reform was a consequence of the decision of the House of Commons , not Lords [9] .
On July 15, 2014, Prime Minister David Cameron made a series of staff moves in his first cabinet , and one of the decisions he made was the appointment of Tina Stowell as leader of the House of Lords and Lord Custodian of the Lesser Seal (not being a member of the cabinet, Stowell got the right in case the need to participate in its meetings) [10] .
On May 11, 2015, Cameron formed a new cabinet , retaining the previous posts for Tina Stowell, but now as a full member of the government [11] .
On July 14, 2016, the first cabinet of Theresa May was formed, in which the portfolios of the leader of the House of Lords and the Lord of the Keeper of the Seal went to Natalie Evans , and Tina Stowell did not receive any position in the government [12] .
