Biography
In 1947 he graduated from the Academy of Music in Sofia (piano class by Pancho Vladigerov, composition class by Dimitar Nenov ). He wrote mainly instrumental music. Since 1961, professor at the Bulgarian Conservatory . In 1965-1969 he was a secretary, and in 1994-1999 he was the chairman of the Bulgarian Union of Composers. He wrote music for theater and cinema.
Married to Polish Anne-Lydia Nikolove; they have two children: Ivaylo Nikolov (musician) and Detelina Nikolova (animator).
