Biography

Praskovya Tsiklinskaya was born in 1859. In the 1880s she moved to St. Petersburg and entered the Higher Women's Courses, which she graduated in 1889. In the same year, Praskovya Vasilyevna was sent to Paris for courses at the Pasteur Institute, which she graduated in the same 1889 year. Praskovya Vasilievna, after their graduation, was going to return to the Russian Empire , but her acquaintance with Ilya Mechnikov makes her corrections and Praskovya Vasilievna from 1889 to 1894 works in his laboratory. In 1894, on the orders of Ilya Mechnikov, Praskovya Vasilyevna moved to Moscow , but the year remained without work, and finally, luck smiled upon her in 1895 when she was invited to MSU , to which Praskovya Vasilyevna was faithful until her death. From 1895 to 1923 she worked at the Bacteriological Institute at Moscow State University , at the same time from 1907 to 1923 she headed the department of bacteriology of higher female courses, which in 1918 received the proud name of the 2nd Moscow University . Praskovya Vasilievna lived and worked in Moscow at the following addresses: Plotnikovy Lane , 19 (the house was not preserved ), Granatny Lane , 2/9 (at the beginning of the 1910s), Bolshaya Kislovsky Lane , 4 (in the middle of the 1910s), Povarskaya street , 29 (mid-1910s - until his death).

Praskovya Tsiklinskaya died on December 23, 1923 in Moscow at the age of only 64 years old. Buried at the Novodevichy cemetery .

Scientific Works

The main scientific works are devoted to issues of medical microbiology.

  • 1898-1902 - Discovered new types of thermophilic bacteria.
  • 1901 - Studied the variability of bacteria and their adaptation to the environment.
