Rud Dmitry Filippovich

Dmitry Filippovich Rud (1886-1919) - Lugansk revolutionary , participant in the civil war .

Born in 1886 . From the age of 15 he worked at the Gartman locomotive building plant in Lugansk as an apprentice distributor. After serving military service, he returned to the same job. Member of the RSDLP since 1905 . [one]

In 1917, after the February Revolution, he took an active part in organizing the working militia (Red Guard), was elected a deputy of the Luhansk Council. At the end of 1917 he commanded an armored squadron during the struggle against the White Cossacks of Kaledin. In March 1918, as part of the 1st socialist detachment under the command of Voroshilov, he fought under Konotop against the Ukrainian-German interventionists (together with the brothers Nikolai and Tikhon). After the retreat during the "Tsaritsyn campaign" led the team of an armored train. In February 1919, in Lugansk , he formed a new garrison for the Voroshilov armored train, built by local workers. He was seriously wounded in battles, lost 2 ribs. Not fully recovered, he returned to the armored train, participated in battles against Petliurists on the Zaporozhye - Sinelnikovo - Yekaterinoslav line . In one of the battles near the station Korystivka August 9, 1919 was surrounded by white cavalry and died while trying to break through with the whole team of an armored train. [2]

For military service in 1924, the All-Russian Central Executive Committee was awarded the Order of the Red Banner .

Recognition

  • Bust Rudya installed in the park of Glory of the heroes of the civil war .
  • In Lugansk, the file factory and the street bear his name.
  • In Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd , one of the streets was named after commander Rud [3] .
