Jürgen Strop ( German: Jürgen Stroop , until May 1941 bore the name Josef ; September 26, 1895 , Detmold - March 6, 1952 , Warsaw ) - SS gruppenführer , Police Lieutenant General (November 9, 1943) and General SS lieutenant (October 1, 1944). One of the leaders of the suppression of the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto .

Biography
From a middle-class Catholic family. Member of the First World War , vice sergeant major. July 7, 1932 joined the NSDAP (ticket number 1 292 297), and later in the SS (ticket number 44 611), where he began his rapid career growth.
He took part in punitive operations against Soviet partisans . In April 1943, by decision of Himmler, he replaced Oberfuhrer Ferdinand von Zammern-Frankenegg as head of the SS and police in Warsaw . He led the operation to suppress the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto . The author of the report “The Warsaw Ghetto no longer exists .” From September 8 to October 4, 1943 he was the leader of the SS in Greece [2] .
In 1947, the American tribunal in Dachau sentenced Strop to death for executions of hostages in Greece. After the transfer to the Polish authorities, he was again sentenced to death.
While on death row, Strop was extremely frank with his cellmates, talked a lot about the suppression of the uprising in the Warsaw ghetto, about his participation in these events, and did not repent. Activist of the Home Army Kazimierz Mocharsky , who was also on death row with him, was later pardoned and published a book recording Strop's stories called “Conversations with the Executioner”.
Hanged in Warsaw on March 6, 1952.
