Game career
Patrice Dominguez, a native of Algeria, was one of the leaders of French tennis in the 1970s, ranking first in the national hierarchy in 1976 and 1978 [4] . He represented France in the Davis Cup from 1971 to 1979, having spent 24 games in 11 games in the national team during that time and won 10 of 14 singles and 5 out of 10 wins in doubles. The French achieved the best result in these years in 1977, when they entered the interzonal playoffs, but lost to the Italians there.
In the world ranking, the best position of Dominguez in singles was the 34th, which he climbed in the fall of 1973. He achieved this result after having visited the third round of the Australian and French Open Championships for the season, and also reached the final of the grass tournament in Eastbourne . In addition to Eastbourne, he played three more times in the finals of professional tournaments in the 1970s, although he did not win a single title. Three times Dominguez played in the fourth round of the Grand Slam singles - in 1971 and 1977 in France and in 1974 at Wimbledon .
In doubles Dominguez has achieved great success. In his account, from 1974 to 1979, seven titles in the Grand Prix and WCT tournaments, including at the end of 1974 in the prestigious Open Championship of Paris . In 1976, with his regular partner Francois Joffre Dominguez, he reached the semifinals of the French Open, where the French couple lost to second-seeded Brian Gottfried and Raul Ramirez [5] . However, this achievement was not the highest in Dominguez’s career: twice - in 1973 and 1978 - he became a finalist of the French Open in mixed doubles , where his partner in the first case was Dutch tennis player Betty Stove , and in the second Romanian Virginia Ruzici [6] . Dominguez, known as "Monsieur 100,000 volts", held his last matches in professional tournaments in 1981 [7] .
