Vir-o-Val ( French Wihr-au-Val ) - a commune in the north-east of France in the Grand Est region ^[1] (former Alsace - Champagne - Ardenne - Lorraine ), department of the Upper Rhine , Colmar - Riboville , canton Winsenheim ^[2] . Until March 2015, the commune was administratively part of the abolished canton of Munster ( Colmar County).

The area of the commune is 12.54 km², the population is 1184 people ^[3] ^[4] (2006) with an upward trend: 1271 people ^[5] (2012), the population density is 101.4 people / km².

Economics

In 2010, out of 818 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years), 628 were economically active , 190 inactive (activity indicator 76.8%, in 1999 - 74.8%). Of the 628 active able-bodied residents, 589 people worked (312 men and 277 women), 39 were unemployed (16 men and 23 women). Among 190 able-bodied inactive citizens, 73 were pupils or students , 84 were pensioners , and another 33 were inactive for other reasons ^[8] ^[9] .

Throughout 2011, there were 518 taxable households in the commune , in which 1258.5 people lived. At the same time, the median income amounted to 22,737 euros per taxpayer ^[10] .
