The 42nd edition of the Volta Algarve - a multi-day road cycle race on the roads of the Portuguese Algarve region. The race was held from 17 to 21 February 2016 in the framework of the UCI European Tour 2016. The victory, the second time in his career, was won by the British cyclist Geraint Thomas from Team Sky [1] .

24 teams took part in the race: 12 UCI WorldTeam teams, 6 Pro Continental and 6 Continental teams. [2] In total, 189 riders came out at the start of the competition. To the finish line reached 149 athletes.
