The North-Western District of Air Defense is an operational-strategic territorial association of the Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of the USSR, and then the Armed Forces of Russia, which existed from 1946 to 1948, to perform the tasks of anti-aircraft defense of administrative and economic facilities.

District Formation
The North-Western District of Air Defense was formed on May 23, 1946 on the basis of the Central Air Defense District in connection with the further improvement of the country's air defense system on the basis of the Directive of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces [10] .
Reshaping the District
On August 14, 1948, the Directorate of the North-Western District of Air Defense, in accordance with the Directive of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces [11], was reorganized into the Office of the Moscow Air Defense District, Category I.
