The Achisai lead-zinc deposit ( Kaz. Aschysay Korgasyn-myrysh ken orny ) is a deposit in the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan , located 24 km northeast of the city of Kentau . Polymetallic ores. Main components: lead , barite , zinc . Discovered by a Russian researcher N. D. Senentsov. It has been known since the 17th century. In 1934, the Shymkent Lead Plant was built on the basis of the deposit. Lead ore mining began in 1936. The deposit is confined to the eastern part of the Belmazar synclinal, to the Devonian rocks - carbon. Host rocks: limestones , dolomites . The length of the deposit is 500 m, width 100, depth up to 450 m. The form of ore bodies is stratiform, their thickness is 2-5 m. The main ore minerals are pyrite , sphalerite , galena , calcite , dolomite , and barite . Since 1995, the production of oxidized and sulfide ores has been stopped. Currently, work is ongoing at the spent mines. The ore is sent for processing to the Shymkent Lead Plant.
