Demographics and area of distribution

Over the past centuries, the political, cultural and religious life of the Serbs of Vojvodina is closely intertwined with the Serbian population living in the territory of neighboring Romania , Hungary and Croatia . In addition, parts of Srem and Banat , which nowadays administratively belong to the Belgrade district (the communities of Zemun , Surchin and Novi Beograd and the Panchevachki Rit region in the Palilula community), also fall under the territory of cultural and historical space. Vojvodina, together with these areas, represents the territories in which Voevodina Serbs were able to fulfill their historical and political aspirations for national freedom and unification with the rest of the Serbian people.
