John Erskine ( Eng. John Erskine ; June 26, 1980 ; Kingston , Ontario , Canada ) - Canadian hockey player . He played the defender position. Early years
Erskine began to perform at the highest level for the Quint Hawks team in the junior hockey league - Metro Junior Hockey League (MTJHL) in the 1996-97 season. In the 1997-98, 1998-99, and 1999-2000 seasons, Erskine played for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) . At the end of the 1999–2000 season, John won the “ Max Kaminsky Trophy ” - the prize for the best OHL defender. He improved his game from season to season, for which he received a “promotion” by joining the Utah Grizzlies team from the International Hockey League (IHL) in 2000 .
Club career
The Dallas Stars was selected in the 1998 NHL draft in the second round, with a total of 39 numbers.
Erskine's debut in the NHL came in the 2001-02 season . Speaking for the Dallas Stars team, John took part in 33 games, noting one assists.
During the 2005–06 season , Erskine was traded to New York Islanders for defender Jani Ninima, along with the right to choose the second round of the 2006 NHL draft pick plus the choice of the fifth round of the NHL 2007 pick . [1] At the end of the season, the Islanders decided not to renew the contract with the hockey player, and the defender received the status of a free agent .
On September 14, 2006, Erskine signed a contract with the Washington Capitals .
In 2014, the Washington Capitals tried to exchange John Erskine in the offseason to sign a striker Paul Bissonnett . But the "capital" could not find a club for the Canadian. In the 2013–14 season, Erskine, 34, scored 4 (1 + 3) points in 37 matches of the NHL regular season with a “-5”.
In October 2014, he was operated on. The operation to replace the cartilage in the neck was successful, but due to the effects of this injury, Erskine missed the entire 2014-15 season . At the end of the season, the contract with the hockey player was not extended, and now John is an unrestricted free agent.
