Half Years
Six months are used to divide the reporting year into two parts. For cases when the reporting (business) year coincides with the calendar:
| Half year | Quarters | Months | start date | expiration date | Number of calendar days |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| I | I and II | January , February , March , April , May , June | 1st of January | 30 June | 181 (or 182 in leap years ) |
| II | III and IV | July , August , September , October , November , December | July 1 | December, 31st | 184 |
In the USSR, in certain sectors of the national economy, the business year did not coincide with the calendar year and began on October 1. Accordingly, the first economic half-year was the period “October - March”, and the second - “April - September”.
Interesting Facts
- Due to the different number of days in the months, the number of days in half-years varies from 181 to 184, which is inconvenient for accounting and economic analysis. In a number of stable calendar projects, this problem has been resolved. So, for example, in the Armelin calendar and in the Symmetric calendar, the half-year duration is the same and amounts to 182 days, and in the Hilbourd calendar each half-year consists of 180 days.
