James Barbour ( born James Barbour ; June 10, 1775 - June 7, 1842) - American politician, 18th governor of the state of Virginia, from March 7, 1825 to May 23, 1828 - US Secretary of War in the office of President Quincy Adams.

Biography
Born in Orange County, Virginia, into the family of politicians Thomas Barbour and Thomas Pendleton. His parents owned large land estates. On October 29, 1792, he married Lucy Barbour Johnson, the daughter of Benjamin Johnson.
