Biography
Born in 1926 in Borisov. In 1934 the family moved to Minsk . He studied at the Minsk school number 5.
During the war he worked in lithography in Samarkand, studied at the Institute of Marine Engineers, and then entered the railway technical school, while working part-time at the railway workshop. Then he worked in Tashkent at a locomotive repair plant as a metal carver.
In 1945 he entered the Minsk Theater Institute at the acting department for the course of Evstigney Mirovich, People's Artist of the BSSR.
He graduated from the Minsk Theater Institute in 1949. On November 1, 1949 he passed among almost 100 candidates for the competition and was accepted by the announcer of the Belarusian Radio.
On November 4, 1950, an article by Ilya Lvovich “Let our children grow” was published under the pseudonym Ilya Kurgan. The management of the radio proposed to officially change the name for the radio.
