Biography

Born in the village of Kuzino in the territory of modern Klepikovsky district of the Ryazan region [1] .

Received at the First Moscow Medical Institute. I.M.Sechenov (now the First Moscow State Medical University named after I.M.Sechenov ), however, during the war years she was forced to transfer to the Sverdlovsk Medical Institute , which she graduated in 1943.

After graduation, she was sent to the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic to eliminate the epidemic of typhus . Subsequently, she was in charge of a hospital and a medical unit there at the Sibay mine.

For more than 60 years (since 1947) she worked at the Moscow Research Institute of Hygiene named after F.F. Erisman , where she went from an ordinary resident to a director, who held the post from 1959 to 1990.

She was buried at Vvedensky cemetery .

Scientific and social activities

Shitskova is one of the founders of a scientific school for a systematic study of patterns and deciphering mechanisms of action on the human body in populated areas of such widespread physical factors as noise, infrasound, vibration. In this direction, under her leadership, for the first time in world practice, hygienic standards and requirements were developed to reduce the harmful effects of these factors on the population. Until now, the institute's research remains a priority for the scientific direction it created - hygienic regulation of pesticides, deciphering the mechanisms of their toxic effect on the human body. A number of studies performed by and under the supervision of a scientist are devoted to an in-depth study of the metabolism of nutrients in order to rationalize the nutrition of various population groups. The creator of a new scientific direction in hygiene science - hygiene of the North.

Under her leadership, more than 30 doctoral and master's theses on topical problems of hygiene and toxicology were completed and defended.

Member of the Bureau of Hygiene, Microbiology and Epidemiology of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR.

For more than 30 years, chairman of the All-Union Society of Hygienists and Sanitary Doctors.

Member of the Presidium of the Scientific Medical Council of the Ministry of Health of the RSFSR and the State Commission for Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance.

Member of the editorial board of a number of scientific journals, the Big Medical Encyclopedia, member of the plenum of the Committee of Soviet Women, etc.
