Katherine "Kate" Brown ( born Kate Brown ; born June 21, 1960 ) is an American politician and member of the US Democratic Party. Grew up in Minnesota. She became the 38th Governor of Oregon on February 18, 2015 after the resignation of John Kitshaber .

Brown is the second woman to become Oregon Governor (after Barbara Roberts). She is the first open bisexual governor of the state in the history of the United States [1] .
