Baron Inglewood

Hatton in the Forest, residence of the Barons of Inglewood

Baron Inglewood of Hatton, Forest in Cumberland, is an ancestral title in the United Kingdom Peer system . It was created on June 30, 1964 for the conservative politician William Fletcher-Wayne (1909-1989). He was the son of Lieutenant Colonel Hon. William Lionel Wayne (1859-1920), the younger brother of Henry Wayne, 9th Baron Barnard (1854-1918), who in 1891 inherited the baronial title after the death of his distant relative, Harry Paulette, 4th Duke Cleveland and the 8th Baron Barnard (1803-1891). William Lionell Wayne and his brother, the 9th Baron Barnard, were the descendants of the venerable Morgan Wayne, the youngest son of Gilbert Wayne, the 2nd Baron Barnard, whose eldest son, Henry Barnard, the 3rd Baron Barnard (1705-1758), received 1754 Earl of Darlington ( Duke of Cleveland descended from him).

As of 2014, the title holder was Lord Inglewood's eldest son, Richard Fletcher-Wayne, 2nd Baron Inglewood (born 1951), who succeeded his father in 1989 . 2nd Lord Inglewood is a conservative politician who became one of the ninety elected hereditary peers who remained in the House of Lords following the adoption of the 1999 Act of the House of Lords . The title of Baron Inglewood was one of the last hereditary baronies created in the United Kingdom Peer system.
