Biography
Shmakov Andrey Alexandrovich was born on November 27, 1971 in Moscow.
In 1991, he graduated with honors from the Moscow Electromechanical College (MEMT), specializing in the operation and commissioning of machine tools with programmed control, and in 1997, from the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI), specializing in Metal Physics. He graduated from postgraduate and doctoral studies at Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, defended his Ph.D. (2000) and doctoral (2006) dissertations, specializing in Condensed Matter Physics.
From 1997 to September 2015, he worked at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute at the Department “Physical Problems of Materials Science” as a junior researcher, researcher, senior researcher, associate professor and professor. As a teacher, he read at the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute the academic disciplines “Materials Science and Technology of Structural Materials”, “Physics of High-Strength Materials”, “Materials with Special Properties”. Winner of the competition of teachers of leading Russian universities in 2006.
From November 2007 to December 2012, he worked at the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia (chief expert on the coordination and R&D monitoring of budget target programs, deputy head of the state policy department in the field of nanotechnology, leading adviser at the nanotechnology and new materials department). He took a direct part in the development and implementation of the federal target program “Development of the infrastructure of nanoindustry in the Russian Federation for 2008-2011” and the Program for the development of nanoindustry in the Russian Federation until 2015. From November 2011 to April 2013, he served as scientific secretary of the Council of the National Nanotechnology Network.
The author of 180 printed scientific papers, three monographs, five textbooks and three preprints in the field of nuclear engineering, reactor materials science, solid state physics and nanotechnology. Co-author of papers recognized by the Scientific Council of the RAS as the most important results in the field of solid state radiation physics for 2009 and 2013. Awarded with diplomas and medals.
