Biography
He first studied at the Lisbon Conservatory with Montero d'Almeida (harmony and counterpoint), and then continued his studies at the Paris Conservatory with Camille Saint-Saens and Jules Massenet . In 1892-1908, the director of the National Theater of San Carlos in Lisbon . Since 1893, a vocational professor at the (1901-1910, its director). In 1907-1911, adviser to the Ministry of Education of Portugal.
