Biography

Born in 1905 in Samarkand [2] [3] [4] . It was of Persian [5] or Azerbaijani [3] [6] [7] origin. As a child, he learned Farsi , but he was spoken at home [8] . Noted by the Russian authorities of Turkestan, he was sent to Moscow to study [2] , where he began to take violin lessons. There he adopted Orthodoxy and became "Andrew" [2] . In 1922, after leaving school in Moscow, he left for Germany , where he first entered the medical faculty in Berlin , but soon continued to study music at the Berlin and Stuttgart conservatories, adopting Zoroastrianism [9] [10] .

He also took private lessons from the French composer and conductor Paul Vidal at the Paris Conservatory. On August 10, 1927, in Paris [11] he married pianist and comedian theater actress Anna Minkowska (1904–?), Of Jewish descent and originally from Soroki , whose family left Bessarabia after the October Revolution of 1917. Until the end of his life he lived in France.

Creativity

Andre Hossein played on the container . In 1935, he wrote his first ballet, Toward the Light. His other ballets are Persian Miniatures, Scheherazade (1975), Esmeralda's Dance (1980), Vacations on Ice (1982). Andre Hossein also wrote many pieces for piano, including some sketches, music for more than 25 films, symphonies - “Symphony of the Sands” (1946), “Symphony of Persepolis” (1947), “Symphony of Arya” (1976), three piano concert, lyric cycle to verses by Omar Khayyam. In later works he used elements of modern popular music - jazz, blues, rock'n'roll.

Family

Sister - Malake Raji, was married to the orthopedist and traumatologist Abdol-Hossein Raji, the Minister of Health of Iran in the government of Manouchehr Egbala ; their son is Parviz Raji (1936-2014), the last Iranian ambassador to Great Britain during the reign of Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi [12] [13] .
