“The historical outline of the Caucasian wars from the beginning to the annexation of Georgia” was published by the Military-Historical Department of the Caucasian Military District . The goal of the creators of the Essay ... was to note the historical significance of the date when Russian troops, crossing the Caucasus Mountains , "entered Tiflis to save the faithful people," after which a new period began in the history of Transcaucasia . The Essay ... examines both military conflicts and diplomatic relations between Russia and peoples and state education in the Caucasus from the time of the Old Russian state until Georgia ( Kartli-Kakheti kingdom ) became part of the Russian Empire in 1801 . The publication is also illustrated. Contains portraits of prominent personalities, paintings, as well as maps and battle plans.
The authors of the essay were: Major General V. A. Potto , Lt. Col. V. I. Tomkeev , Captain M. A. Rukevich, and E. G. Weidenbaum . It was compiled under the general editorship of V.A. Potto. It was printed by order of the commander of the troops of the Caucasus Military District, Adjutant General Prince G. S. Golitsyn in Tiflis at the printing house of the Office of the Chief of the Civil Unit in the Caucasus.
