Albert Londre ( fr. Albert Londres , 1884-1932) - French journalist and writer , master of the sketch genre. Since 1932, a prestigious journalistic prize has been awarded to him [4] .

Biography
Born November 1, 1882 in Vichy . After graduating from the Lyceum, he tried various professions in Lyon , then moved to Paris . He began his literary career in 1904 with the publication of a collection of poems by Suivant les heures , followed by several other collections and a five-act play in the verses of Gambetta that had never been put on stage.
Even in the poetic period of his work, he periodically wrote notes for Paris newspapers, and in 1906 he became a regular journalist for , covering the work of the National Assembly . With the outbreak of World War I, he was released from military service for health reasons and became a war correspondent for Le Matin at the Ministry of Defense . His first photo story was a report on the consequences of the Reims artillery bombing in September 1914.
London wanted to cover the country with southeast reporting, but Le Matin's leadership did not support his idea. Then he went to work in the Le Petit Journal and, as their correspondent , sent reports from Serbia , Greece , Turkey and Albania from 1915 until the end of the war .
In 1922, London went to the Far East . His fame is growing, and reports and essays begin to appear in France in separate collections. Great resonance is caused by his essays from French Guiana and a description of life in hard labor in Cayenne .
He died on May 16, 1932 along with another 53 passengers in a fire on the ship “ ” off the coast of Yemen when he returned to France from another trip [5] [6] .
