Biography

Nikonor Ivanovich Samonov was born on July 25, 1898 in the village of Prilepy (now Mtsensky District, Oryol Region).

Civil War

In 1917, he was drafted into the ranks of the Russian Imperial Army and was sent to the Belevsky reserve regiment, stationed in the city of Belev, and soon he was sent to the Vireisky regiment as an ordinary, after which he took part in the hostilities on the Romanian front in the Akkerman area.

In November 1918 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army and sent by the Red Army to the 1st reserve Marshansky regiment, and then, as part of the 21st rifle regiment, took part in military operations near Kursk and the Don against troops under the command of General A.I. Denikin .

Interwar

In November 1920, he was sent to study at the 5th Infantry School. Zamoskvoretsky workers stationed in Kiev , after which in September 1923 he was sent to the 66th Infantry Regiment ( 22nd Infantry Division , North Caucasian Military District ), stationed in Krasnodar , where he served as a junior trainee commander, platoon commander and assistant company commander, and in October 1925 he was appointed company commander of the 64th Infantry Regiment. From August to September 1925 he took part in hostilities against gangs on the territory of Chechnya and Dagestan .

In December 1928 he was sent to study at the Shooting "Tactical Shooting Tactical Courses, after which he returned to the regiment in September 1929 , where he served as head of the regimental school and company commander, and in December 1931 he was appointed assistant chief of staff 65th Infantry Regiment.

In December 1932 he was sent to study for reconnaissance courses in Moscow , after which in March 1933 he was appointed to the post of chief of the 2nd part of the headquarters of the 22nd Infantry Division . In September 1937, the division was redeployed to the Far East and was included in the 1st Separate Red Banner Army . In June 1938, he was appointed commander of the 64th Infantry Regiment as part of the same division, and in November 1940, he was appointed commander of the 94th Infantry Division ( 36th Army , Trans-Baikal Military District ).

World War II

With the outbreak of war, Colonel Samonov was in his former position.

From February to March 1943 he worked as a member of the group of Colonel-General M.P. Kovalev , and in April of that year he was appointed chief of staff of the 36th Army ( Trans-Baikal Front ), which defended the Soviet state border in Trans-Baikal . In 1943, he spent two months on an internship on the Bryansk and Northwestern Fronts , where he studied the experience of war, and also took part in hostilities during two operations. In August of the same year he was appointed commander of the 85th Rifle Corps ( 17th Army ), which was deployed along the border with China and the MPR , and in August 1944 he was appointed deputy commander of the 17th Army.

During the Soviet-Japanese War, Samonov in August 1945 took part in the hostilities during the Khingan-Mukden offensive operation , commanding the right convoy of the 17th Army. For courage, courage and military skill, Major General Nikonor Ivanovich Samonov was awarded the Order of Suvorov, 2 degrees.

Post-War Career

After the war he was in his former post.

In August 1946 he was appointed to the post of deputy commander of the 34th army , and then to the same position in the 36th army as part of the Trans-Baikal-Amur Military District , and in January 1947 he was appointed to the position of assistant commander of the 36th Army .

In April 1948 he was sent to study at higher academic courses at the K.E. Voroshilov Higher Military Academy , after which from May 1949 he served as assistant commander of the Separate Mechanized Army ( Romania ), and in January 1952 he was appointed to the post Head of the Department of Military Discipline of the Kharkov Medical Institute .

Major General Nikonor Ivanovich Samonov left the reserve in August 1955 . He died on November 22, 1972 in Kharkov .
