References in fiction
This match was mentioned in a joke-parody created in 2006 by The Independent journalist John Walsh, which talks about "the five most unsuccessful attempts to interfere with stars." In one of these “attempts”, Oscar Wilde was mentioned, who was allegedly a player at Oxford and missed a sure chance to equalize in the last minute [3] . However, this turned out to be a fiction, since Wilde was known as a hater of “male sports” (with the exception of boxing at the university) [4] .
