The 13th European Men's Handball Championship [1] was held in Croatia from January 12 to 28, 2018 . The decision on the venue of the tournament was announced in September 2014. Croatia hosted the European Handball Championship for the second time, in 2000 the tournament was held in Zagreb and Rijeka. The winner of the tournament was the Spanish national team , thus earning the right to participate in the 2019 World Cup , which will be held in Denmark and Germany. The Spanish national team played its fifth final at the European Championships, but won only the first victory.

Points scored by the previous teams in matches against each other at the preliminary stage are transferred to the Main round .
Two best teams from each group reached the semifinals. Third teams played the match for 5th place.
