Andre Liebich (André Leonard Liebich, born January 5, 1948, London ) is a Swiss political scientist and historian. Professor Emeritus of the Geneva Institute for International Studies and Development (since 2013). Previously a professor at the University of Quebec in Montreal . Researcher of the history and politics of Central and Eastern Europe.

Biography
According to the origin of the Pole [3] . As Liebig himself tells about himself in 2015: “I was born in the UK, grew up in Canada, studied in Canada, the USA and England, spent a lot of time in Lebanon, from where my wife was” [3] .
He graduated from McGill University (Bachelor of Political Science and Economics with Honors, 1968) and Harvard (Master of Sovietology, 1970). The degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science was received in the latter in 1974.
In 1989 he moved to Geneva [3] . In 1989—2013 Lecturer at the Geneva Institute for International Research and Development, replaced Professor Molnar [3] , then an honorary professor of international history and politics.
Prior to that, since 1973, a professor of political science, in 1982-91. Professor of Political Science at the University of Quebec in Montreal . In 1972-73 worked at Oxford. He also taught at McGill University, the University of Montreal, the University of Friborg and Babes-Bolyai University (Romania), where in 2013 he was awarded the honorary degree of doctor. Engaged in research work at Oxford, Harvard, Stanford and Princeton.

The author of the book about the Mensheviks “From the Other Shore. Russian Social Democracy after 1921 ”(“ From the Other Side: Russian Social Democracy after 1921 ”, 1997), which was awarded the Frankel Prize, awarded by the Wiener Library in London.
He visited the USSR twice [3] .
He conducted his own investigation into the crash of the Boeing MH17 in Ukraine [4] [5] .
In an interview in the summer of 2015, on the question of propaganda in the Russian media, Liebig says that they are no more zealous in it than the American ones. He compares the channel Russia-24 , where "there is a place for different opinions, which is absolutely not, for example, in the New York Times ." Liebig notes: “This is a tragic situation, which is beneficial only to some Ukrainian leaders, who very skillfully were able to present the internal conflict within Ukraine as a conflict between the East and the West” [3] .
