History
The canton was formed as a result of the 2015 reform [1] based on the abolished cantons of Evreux-Sud and Evreux-Est .

Policy
In the 2017 presidential election, the canton residents cast 23.9% of the votes in the 1st round to Emmanuel Macron versus 22.3% for Marin Le Pen , 19.6% for Jean-Luc Melanson and 19.0% for Francois Fillon ; in the 2nd round, Macron won the canton, receiving 64.7% of the vote. (2012 1st round: Nicolas Sarkozy - 28.0%, Francois Hollande - 27.6%, Marine Le Pen - 17.8%; 2nd round: Hollande - 50.01%. 2007 1st round: Sarkozy - 32.8%, Segolen Royal - 24.1%; 2nd round: Sarkozy - 55.1%).
Since 2015, the canton has been represented on the Council of the Air Department by the vice-mayor of Evreux, Diane Leseigneur ( Republicans ) and the mayor of Le Beau-Saint-Croix, Xavier Hubert ( Miscellaneous right ).
