Sainte-Croix-en-Plaine ( Fr. Sainte-Croix-en-Plaine ) is a commune in northeast France in the region of Grand Est ^[1] (formerly Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine ), in the Upper Rhine department , Colmar district - Riboville , Canton Colmar-2 ^[2] . Until March 2015, the commune was administratively part of the abolished canton of Colmar-Sud ( Colmar district).

The area of the commune is 25.77 km², the population is 2,493 people ^[3] ^[4] (2006) with a tendency to increase: 2,794 people ^[5] (2012), the population density is 108.4 persons / km².

Economy

In 2010, out of 1,742 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years old), 1360 were economically active , 382 were inactive (an activity rate of 78.1%, in 1999 - 72.6%). Of the 1360 active able-bodied residents, 1,279 people worked (675 men and 604 women), 81 were unemployed (31 men and 50 women). Among 382 able-bodied inactive citizens, 118 were pupils or students , 187 were retired , and another 77 were inactive for other reasons ^[8] ^[9] .

During 2011, there were 1,074 taxable households in the commune , in which 2,747.5 people lived. At the same time, the median income amounted to 23,567 euros per taxpayer ^[10] .
