Joseph Kleitsch ( English Joseph Kleitsch ; 1879 - 1953 ) - American artist- impressionist of Hungarian descent; representative of the California school of impressionism [1] .

Biography
Born on June 6, 1882 in the town of Sânmihaiu Român in the province of Banat, Hungary (now the territory of Romania).
He started painting at the age of seven. Received art education in Budapest , Munich and Paris . Then in 1901 he emigrated to the United States; created his studio in Cincinnati , in 1906-1907 he lived in Denver . He lived for some time in Mexico City, then in 1920 he moved to California , where he was captured by the local nature and landscapes . He later moved to Laguna Beach . Here he became a member of the local art colony . Arthur Miller of the Los Angeles Times called the artist "a born colorist." In 1925, Klich visited Europe for a more detailed study of the work of European painters. He visited France and Spain, where he painted portraits and landscapes. In November 1927 he returned to the United States and continued to write in Laguna Beach until his untimely death.
Joseph Klich died of a heart attack on November 16, 1931 in Santa Ana, California.
He was married since 1914 to Edna Gregatis from Chicago , they had an only child - Eugene [2] . A year after his death, his wife opened a gallery named after him - Joseph Kleitsch Fine Arts Gallery in Laguna Beach.
