Major Contribution to Science
Mercantilism
Heckscher's studies gave rise to a systematic study of the economic history of Sweden, and became an important stage in the development of national historiography. Heckscher's book on mercantilism (translated into several European languages) provoked a wide discussion in the economies of many countries in the 1930s and 1950s. A notable historical study of mercantilism in all stages of its development is now the book of E. Hackscher "Mercantilism", published in 1931 [8] .
Heckscher-Olin-Samuelson Model
In 1919, Heckscher published an article entitled “The Impact of Foreign Trade on the Distribution of Income” on foreign trade, on the basis of which his student Bertil Olin developed the theory of international trade , and later it was called the Heckscher – Olin – Samuelson model . The model also includes the Heckscher – Olin theory , which is formulated as follows: “The region will export goods in the production of which the relatively excess factor of production is intensively used” [9] .
